On the 24th of May, John C. Reilly celebrates his birthday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. CELLOPHANE!
John Christopher Reilly was born on 24th of May, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois as fifth of six children. He was growing up in Chicago's notorious Southwest and found his salvation from the mean streets in theater, acting from young age of 8. He trained in Goodman School of Drama and later became a member of Steppenwolf Theatre.
His big screen debut was in Brian De Palma's war-drama Casualties of War back in 1989, with Michael J. Fox and Sean Penn in leading roles.
John C. Reilly did various small parts in all kinds of films, always trying his best to work with great directors and actors like with Tony Scott in Days of Thunder (1990), Woody Allen in Shadows and Fog (1991), Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio and Juliette Lewis in What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), with Paul Thomas Anderson in Hard Eight (1996) and Boogie Nights (1997) and Terrence Malick in The Thin Red Line (1998).
Roles that skyrocketed his career were in movies: The Hours (2002), The Good Girl (2002), Gangs of New York (2002) and Chicago (2002).
He has a funny side too, doing goofy comedy-action movies mostly with his good friend and colleague Will Ferrell by his side: Talladega Nights (2006), Step Brothers (2008), Anchorman 1 and 2...
