Plans for controversial political figure Steve Bannon to be interviewed at the New Yorker Festival have been scrapped after stars including Jim Carrey and Judd Apatow threatened to pull out.
Steve Bannon is known as the former Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor to the President of the United States Donald Trump.
Bannon was in the office from January 20 to August 18, 2017. After he left the White House, Bannon told the media that he wants to be the infrastructure, globally, for the global populist movement.
Because of his views and believes, Bannon is considered one of the most controversial politicians in the United States.
The New Yorker Festival wanted Bannon for their live interview, but numerous famous guests of the festival said that they will not attend it, if Bannon was there.
The magazine's editor David Remnick acted quickly and immediately called off the interview.
The official statement goes like this: I thought this through and talked to colleagues - and I've reconsidered. Our writers have interviewed Steve Bannon for the New Yorker before, and if the opportunity presents itself, I'll interview him in a more traditionally journalistic setting as we first discussed, and not on stage.
