Sad news today as 'Harry Potter' actor Robert Hardy has passed away aged 91. Fans of the actor and of the wizarding franchise were quick to hit social media to share their condolences, with author J.K. Rowling penning a short message to express her sorrow.
The English actor Robert Hardy was born in Cheltenham, on October 29th, 1925. Four days ago, 91-year-old has died from natural causes.
Robert Hardy spent whole his life on TV and in front of the movie cameras, never wanting to go to the Dream Factory. So, his Hollywood roles are few, and his fame is much more England-bound.
Hardy had more than 130 roles in various TV series, TV movies and features, over the course of his long career.
His debut on small screen came with Michele and Rene (1951), and four years later, Hardy appeared in TV movie Othello (1955).
Hardy had a successful breakthrough on the TV series David Copperfield (1956) where he played the title character.
He was also known for his work on All Creatures Great and Small (1978-1990) a popular long-running TV series.
But, for the younger generations, he will always be Cornelius Fudge, famous character from the Harry Potter film series.
Hardy did not appear in the whole Harry Potter franchise, because of his age, and the producers didn't want to insure Hardy, because it was too expensive.
He was married two times, with Elizabeth Fox and with costume designer Sally Pearson. Hardy had 3 children from both of his marriages.
He will surely be missed by a lot of fans out there!
